The minimum for government-sponsored degree programmes is C+ (plus). Private universities may accept C plain for some programmes. Diploma programmes may accept C-. You must achieve C+ or above to be placed through KUCCPS for a degree.
Each KUCCPS cluster requires 4 specific subjects. Your cluster score = sum of grade points for those 4 subjects × 3. Grade scale: A=12, A-=11, B+=10, B=9, B-=8, C+=7, C=6, C-=5, D+=4, D=3, D-=2, E=1. Maximum raw score = 48 × 3 = 144. EduPath AI displays the raw 0–48 scale for easier comparison. Always check official scores on the KUCCPS portal.
You can apply for up to 3 programme choices in order of preference. You are placed in the highest-priority choice you qualify for. Always put your most desired course first, but ensure all 3 are realistic based on your cluster scores. Use EduPath AI's comparison feature to evaluate your options before submitting.
You have several strong options: (1) Apply for Diploma programmes via KUCCPS with lower entry requirements, (2) Retake KCSE subjects — especially the 4 cluster subjects for your desired course, (3) Enroll in bridging programmes at TVET institutions, (4) Apply to private universities that have different admission criteria. WhatsApp our helpline at 0742 868 209 for free personalised guidance.
EduPath AI uses the official KUCCPS 2024/25 degree cluster cut-off document. Cut-offs shift slightly each cycle based on national performance and university capacity. Always verify at the official KUCCPS portal before submitting your application. Our "High Chance" label means you have a comfortable margin above the cut-off.
Government-sponsored (Module I): Lower fees (KSh 16,000–48,000/year), placed by KUCCPS, requires C+ minimum, HELB eligible. Highly competitive. Self-sponsored (Module II): Higher fees (KSh 60,000–200,000/year), apply directly to university, slightly lower grade requirements, some HELB eligible. Both pathways lead to the same degree with the same value to employers.
